Picking the Right Light Bulb for Your Lifestyle

By now your multiple visits to hardware stores and the nearby Target has shown you that there is more than one type of light bulb. In the past few years energy saving light bulbs have become increasingly popular due to its versatilility in all its shapes and sizes, its affordability, but above all its ability to fit into everyday life. One reason why most everyone has at least one energy saving bulb in the house is because it's easy to incorporate into our lives! The smallest effort can make the biggest difference.

Here are just some fun facts about energy saving lightbulbs. We were surprised to discover that if every home were to replace just one light bulb with an energy efficient light bulb, we would save more than $600 million in energy costs. If you replace just one light bulb, one that you use an average of eight hours per day, in one year you can save almost $15 and in three years more than $40. Incandescent light bulbs truly only use 10% of its energy usage on powering the light, the other 90% of its energy usage is wasted as unnecessary heat. However, remember that these light bulbs do contain a small amount of mercury so make sure to dispose of them properly when the time comes to replace them.

There are many websites that provide information about energy efficient light bulbs--in this article we cite these articles and provide weblinks to facilitate the search for the perfect light bulb.
